Meet John Whetstone: A Candidate You Can Trust

John grew up in a working-class family in a small trailer park outside Crawfordsville, where his parents worked multiple jobs just to keep food on the table. His dad balanced long factory shifts with doing maintenance work for a local property owner, often bringing John along to help with repairs. His mom juggled janitorial work, church jobs, and a small business moving mobile homes, all while giving back to people who needed a second chance.

Despite constant medical bills that kept the family in poverty, John’s parents taught him generosity, community, and the value of hard work. They gardened, raised animals, canned food, and shared whatever they could with neighbors who were struggling. After his father passed away when John was a teenager, he stepped up to help with repair work and support his family.

Those early experiences shaped John’s belief that no one should have to work multiple jobs just to survive and that every Hoosier deserves dignity, opportunity, and a fair shot.

Our Key Issues: Fair Wages, Healthcare, and Tax Justice

We’re committed to building a fairer future for every Hoosier. That means fighting for fair wages that support working families, access to affordable healthcare, and a tax system that puts everyday people first—not corporations.

Why John’s Story Matters

John Whetstone’s journey from Crawfordsville’s working-class neighborhoods to running for Congress isn’t just his story—it’s the story of countless Hoosier families. His experiences with low wages, healthcare struggles, and community service give him a firsthand understanding of the challenges voters face every day.

$17.25 Minimum Wage for All Hoosiers

Every Hoosier deserves a wage that actually covers the cost of living. Raising the minimum wage to $17.25 an hour means families can afford housing, groceries, childcare, and the essentials they need to thrive. This isn’t just good for workers—it strengthens local businesses, boosts our economy, and helps communities grow.

A fair wage is the foundation of a fair future, and it’s time Indiana workers are paid what they deserve.

Medicare for All: Healthcare is a Human Right

No one should go bankrupt or skip medical care because they can’t afford it. Medicare for All ensures that every American—no matter their income, job, or background—has access to comprehensive, affordable healthcare. This policy would eliminate surprise bills, reduce prescription costs, and guarantee that every Hoosier gets the care they need without fear or
financial stress.

Healthcare isn’t a privilege reserved for the few. It’s a basic human right—and it’s time our system treats it that way.

Taxing the Ultra-Wealthy to Fund Indiana Families

Indiana’s working families shouldn’t carry the tax burden while billionaires and large corporations avoid paying their fair share. By closing loopholes and ensuring the ultra-wealthy contribute responsibly, we can invest
directly in the services Hoosiers rely on—like better schools, affordable healthcare, and stronger infrastructure.

This policy isn’t about punishment; it’s about fairness. When everyone pays what they owe, Indiana has the resources to lift up families, create opportunity, and build a future where every community can thrive.
